Outfit Inspiration For Bramham Horse Trials
It's our local horse trials this week, Bramham International Horse Trials is not far from York and I love visiting every year. I normally try to go on cross country day but this year my day off falls on the Sunday which is show jumping day so I am looking forward to watching this for a change. If you are also heading there this weekend hopefully I can help with a bit of outfit inspiration!
If you have never been to a 3 day event before here are my 3 top tips for dressing for the day:
1. Comfort is key - Because I usually only have time to go for one day I try to cram everything in, which makes it pretty exhausting. Make sure you wear comfy shoes, you will do plenty of walking so definitely do not wear new, unbroken shoes - always make sure your shoes are appropriately protected, walking through long grass can ruin suede shoes, please ask for advice on what is best to use for your footwear.
2. Dress for the weather - Layers are the answer! At the moment the forecast is sun and light showers all weekend. Make sure to dress to be able to adjust to any weather scenario. We are in Yorkshire after all, if the sun is shining when you leave the house in the morning it definitely doesn't mean it will be all day.
3. Wear a hat/sunglasses and don't forget sun cream - You will be spending the majority of the day outside. You don't want to struggle watching the event properly because of the glare from the sun and squinting all day can be annoying. It is also so easy to get sun burnt, even if it is not that sunny (especially if you have had a few drinks and don't notice it happening). I always put sun cream on before going to an event like this and set a reminder on my phone to reapply throughout the day, it's easily forgotten when you are busy.
So, we have put together 3 outfits for each day of the event:
Last month we entered a competition on social media for Fairfax & Favor stockists to put together an outfit for Badminton Horse Trials, so you might have seen these pics before but we won so we must have done something right?!
This is definitely an outfit for if the sun is shining! I love how the baker boy contrasts to the pretty flowery dress. Worn with a good pair of comfy shoes, deck shoes or trainers would make a good alternative. Long boots and a knitted cardigan or wrap could be added if the weather turns chillier.
We put this outfit together with cross country day in mind. Comfy boots are a must for walking around the course especially if the grass is wet or muddy. We chose Fairfax & Favor Imperial Explorers, Dubarry boots or even wellies would also look great. I love this Guinea gilet, it is the perfect layer to add to any outfit for this time of year. The Evemy & Evemy scarf and Morris Richardson watch finish this outfit off beautifully.
Our final outfit would be better suited to the Dressage or Show Jumping day. This super stylish look would certainly stand out from the crowd. If the weather is chilly a pair of tights and wax jacket would be a great addition to this outfit.
I hope this has helped you pick an outfit for Bramham Horse Trials, if you are going this weekend I hope you have a great time! For any last minute outfit help please do pop in and see us.
